Sixteen & Seventeen

So I was talking to a friend about silly things from my past the other day and it prompted me to dig out a box of old photos. I'm finding them mildly entertaining and thought other people might too...

First we have the photo of my friends and me just before we all moved away to college (I was 17), petting one of my friend's horses. I've referred to this photo several times over the years and am glad to now have it readily available as a visual aide. I don't like horses. I never have. Well, I don't really have anything against them, I just get bad feelings when I'm around them. See the scrunchy nose face? That's me btw - red shirt, scrunchy face, mounds of permed and sprayed hair. I think I traced my disliking of horses back to when I was 4 years old and I fell off of one and got the wind knocked out of me. For about 3 minutes I thought I was going to die.
All of my friends wanted a pony when we were little. I wanted a dolphin.
Man, I miss those guys ... Cees!

This is my graduation photo that was actually taken the summer between 11th and 12th grade (I was 16). I look at this photo and I am   a m a z e d   at how much time I used to spend styling my hair. Amazed. I mean, I have naturally straight hair ... look at this!!! Do you have any idea how long that takes?!

This was my boyfriend during 11th and 12th grade (I was 16 and 17). He was a singer in a band (did the hair, make-up and casual smoking pose NOT give it away?) and an artist - extremely talented at both. He always looked like that, every single day. Every time we went places he would be mistaken for either the lead singer of Loudness or a, uh, girl. Fun times, fun times - well except for the dad part. Dad wasn't exactly thrilled with him. :D

Hard to believe this was all 20 years ago, but as I sit here and type these words my 37th birthday looms just a few short weeks around the corner. Hmmm . . . life.

Girl!! Those are great!! I love it! And yes, it takes a LONG time to do that to your hair. lol I may have to dig up some of my old photos... my senior hair was horrible, permed bangs & straight in the back. hee hee On second thought, don't know if I'm ready to share that with the world.
Thanks for blog & pictures, very awesome!!
Love,
Lisa

Oh man, that is funny. I can't picture that senior portrait going out with the Loudness look alike. The one with you petting the horse looks more his type. haha Great pics. Thanks for posting. One of these days I'm gonna put all my old pics like that up.

Aww c'mon Lisa, share!!

Mark, yeah, I was (past tense?) a freak. People always seemed surprised by the things I did and it contributed greatly to my never fitting in anywhere. I think it still does. We dated for like a year and a half. At some point during that time I acquired the frizzy poof head, but I never hung out with the rocker/stoner chicks, even though I guess I kind of looked like them. The three people in the first photo were the people I did everything with and we were in a sort of non-descript little group. We were all pretty different from each other but had enormous amounts of fun. Post your pics!! That Halloween pic of you and Lisa was great, more! MORE! :D
