Almost Comatose

Okay, what's been going on . . .

1. Tour the world with my kick-awesome band ... check
2. Play Stonehenge (yes, as in go to Stonehenge and play a gig) ... check
3. Make lots and lots of money ... check
4. Buy a coffin shaped guitar ... check
5. Play Freebird ... check

Yeah, it's been a busy week.

I am talking about Guitar Hero II of course ... remember?
I am WAY in love with this game. I can't stop playing it. It is too much awesome fun for words. It is more fun than a Wii or a PS3.
Okay, I've never actually played either of those, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. :)

Here. Allow me to elaborate --
Two words:
__War__
__Pigs__

Holy crap!! Do you have ANY idea how awesome it is to be completely musically inept yet able to freaking jam on the guitar to War Pigs??? I'm almost comatose from the excitement.

Another cool thing about it is learning about new songs that I never really would have listened to otherwise. Killing In The Name Of by Rage Against The Machine is one of the most fun songs to play on the game so far and I barely even knew that song before. I'm actually thinking I might need to go and get some of their music now. So fun!! ::trying to control myself from getting up and going to play before finishing this entry::

Then of course we have the awesome Strong Bad song, Trogdor! Damn, that one is hard. It is a bonus song, I had to buy it with some of my gig money. Which is fine. So far I've made like $14,000. I think Trogdor only cost like $600. Totally worth it.

And last but certainly not least, the absolutely *most* fun song to play has to be YYZ by Rush. It has so much cool stuff in it. No really, I'm serious, it is the most fun one to play.
Rush is kinda cool. I might have to get some of their stuff too. Defintely this song. It is greatness.

Misirlou by Dick Dale is a lot of fun too, but I can't figure out why I always score so low on it.

Okay, that is as long as I can stay away. Playing all of these songs on You Tube while I write this entry isn't helping any.

RAWK!

D'ween

Did you know that there is an actual company in Milwaukee manufacturing and selling Festivus Poles? Here is a news story the Chronicle did on it. Also, here is their website although it is apparently getting overloaded with traffic and is mostly down or very slow every time I try to go. If you are not familiar with Festivus, it is a holiday that was created on Seinfeld.
Being an unreligious type of person, I always thought it was a pretty cool idea except for I'm not sure I am completely on-board with all of the Festivus activities that Mr. Costanza came up with, such as "The Airing Of Grievances". Hmm.
I am certain there is a groovy You Tube segment to go along with this blog entry, but I'll just wait around until the You Tube King has time to provide us with a link to it :D

Yeah, Festivus is interesting and all, but I am much more of a Decemberween person, myself. Last one in's a rotten friend!

Short Letter To Zooey Deschanel

Dear Zooey,

For the love of Laszlo, please please PLEASE make a CD. I could listen to your voice all day, every day, for the rest of my life but currently there's only one song I can turn to when I want to hear it . . .

Not that I don't love this song, but I need more! And I'm pretty sure there are a few billion other people that agree.

Sincerestly yours,
Jamie

Until she comes out with a CD, you can just keep coming here to hear her sing. Or just watch the movie it came from because it's great too.

Dr. Seuss and Buddha

Tonight I read Dr. Seuss to my son and his friend, Buddha. Buddha is actually just a 5" statuette representation of Buddha - my son likes to keep him around and rub his tummy for good luck. When I was reading, he made sure that Buddha got a good long look at each page before I could turn it. I think Buddha rather enjoyed himself, I know we did. Greatest short Dr. Seuss story ever: What was I Scared Of?. If you are not familiar with it, find it and read it asap.

Other Seussy things happened earlier, oddly enough, when I was riding with the guy that was towing my car to the repair shop (I'm not really in the mood for sharing this lovely story). When I got into his truck he noticed the copy of How The Grinch Stole Christmas that I had with me. He told me how he used to read to his children when they were young and tried hard to remember a particular Seuss story in which there was "some sort of beetle". After we both thought for a moment, I finally came out with "Tweedle Beetles!" and there I had it. You know, Tweedle Beetles from Fox In Sox. He seemed happy that I thought of it - then I proceeded to recite several lines of the Tweedle Beetle portion of the story from memory (because I've only read it like 459 bajillion times).

...and just when I thought I wasn't good for anything.

A Day In The "Life"

Unspoken feelings, unspoken truth . . .

Monumentally unavailable reflection . . .

Mental hell . . .

Perpetual struggle to stay above water . . .

Hopeless and futile . . .

This isn't living.

Trivialities

Someone told me that I am "a total Austin chick" the other day. It was obvious that she meant this as a compliment, and I received it as such, but also I found it to be very curious. Then, being me, I began to think about it entirely too hard and wondered 1.) how I came to accept that as a compliment and 2.) why it was making me feel guilty. I never really came up with any great answers.

I suck at interactive online Scrabble. So I've only played two games and have so far refused to read any of the documentation that came with the install, but I really doubt that has much to do with how bad I am and why I don't understand how it works. The main thing I can NOT get used to is the timer. You can't time Scrabble!!! Hello? Rules schmools; when I play Scrabble we each get endless time in order to come up with that perfect word. Coolness is measured by the length of time it takes you to play a word. The longer it takes, the cooler you are. At least, that's how things work in The World According To Jamie.
Thanks Natalie!! :)

My thoughts on Friday . . . Got Kleenex?

~ ~ ~

Recently I've become [predictably] interested [predictably late] in Ze. His vlogs are pretty funny, but I've actually been having way too much fun with his flash toys. Especially this one.
I know, I'm easy.

Here's a question for you: What if . . . . . . . ?
