THE Place. TO Be.
So we went to the library today. Not our usual library, mind you, but a cool new library that we just found out about - and it totally rules.
My kids absolutely love going to the library - this is one of the few simple pleasures that we unanimously enjoy, and although it is still a relatively new part of our family routine (read: we are currently working on increasing the number of trips to the library and lowering the trips to Barnes & Noble and Half Price Books), we seem to be quickly getting up to speed on everything the library has to offer. I keep hearing about how you can check CDs and other cool stuff out at the library and so today I finally decided to see what all the hub-bub was about. Less than 15 seconds after I hit the CD section, I had 4 CDs in my hands ready to take home:
- The Very Best Of John Coltrane
- Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall [LIVE]
- End of the World Party (Just in Case) by Medeski Martin and Wood
- Love's Silhouette by Pieces Of A Dream
In the children's room, my daughter was making use of the wide array of services they offer via computer - she made some fun stuff in Power Point and then surfed the web to find and listen to some of her favorite music.
The kids are looking forward to going back on a day when the Cyber Cafe is open (it is closed on Sundays). The little scientist and I also found something called the Science Corner that looked to be very interesting, but it appears that it is primarily intended to assist ESL students at the college. That's okay, we can just go and pretend we don't speak english. :P
...oh, and we actually checked out some books too! :)
Is it just me, or was the library WAY more lame and boring when "we" were young? All I know is that it totally rocks now.

Mmm, the library. I'm headed there in just a few minutes to pick up Episode 2 in the "Jazz" series...and...also...to pay my fines...
