Firefox 1.5.0.6 is Teh Suck
So I think I figured out what is up with my connectivity problem (I lost my internet connection early Friday). Well not exactly, rather I just figured out that I think it has something to do with the latest version of Firefox. Unfortunately I haven't had time to pour over the Mozilla message boards to see if this is happening to anyone else - instead I have opted to blog about it and hope to possibly prompt anyone else that is having this issue to let me know about it.
I figured it out after I did a system restore which fixed everything, but I didn't quite understand why until I saw the little bubble that pops up to tell me that Firefox was going to perform its update (1.5.0.6) the next time I ran it - which was an update that had just installed very shortly before I had this problem, but since I did the restore and went back to a point in time before I installed it, it needed to do it again. Sure enough, as soon as I closed Firefox and opened a new instance of it, I could no longer view the internet. Weird thing was that this somehow effected IE too, which is odd considering my diagnosis of the source, but not impossible. I previously *had* Firefox set to update automatically. So, after uninstalling 1.5.0.6 and then installing a download of 1.5.0.1 that I had sitting in my Downloads folder, I immediately went in to turn of the Update Automatically option. I'm not sure what exactly is happening, but doing this seems to have fixed it.
In other news I wrote a review of the Houston Press Music Awards showcase - if you like reading, you can go here to read it.
Congrats to Drop Trio and Southern Backtones!!

Oh yeah, he's pretty funny unTIL you realize it is all a cover. Then it becomes kind of sad and you keep trying to find an answer as to why _oh _WHY would anyone want to be in denial of their true geeky self? Incomprehensible. At least it is for me.
The only consolation is being able to realize at the end of each day that Mr. New G. is truly the biggest geek I know. And I think we all know that is saying something.
